The City of Decatur offers a wide range of events, from seasonal festivals, and sports competitions, to spending time in our local parks, and relaxing with your family for an afternoon of outdoor fun.  There are lots of activities to choose from.

Veterans Park

This park is home to many events such as the annual Decatur BBQ Festival, Trunk or Treat, Veterans Day Celebration-Honoring our Vets, and sports competitions. Features of this park include a bandstand, concession stand with pavilion and seating, walking trail, and playground area.

McCollum Picnic Area
Accessible off of Austin Ave.

This area is a memorial area for Dr. McCollum. It features picnic tables and landscaping.

Edmiston Ballpark

This area features baseball parks with one being for little league, a playground area, a concession stand and pavilion with seating. Disc Golf and the walking trail both are available from this area.

Accessible from Main Street (Hwy 102) is a large soccer field and parking.

Old City Park

This park is downtown across the railroad tracks and features, a playground area, pickleball courts, and the swimming pool. When accessing the pickleball courts and the swimming pool from Pool Street, Pool Street is a one-way street, entering in off of 2nd Street and exiting out at Oak Ave.

Royce Johnson Memorial Park
7th Street

This park was developed in memory of Royce Johnson who was an outstanding citizen who contributed many years to be the Chamber of Commerce President and overseeing the Decatur BBQ. This park is family oriented with a pavilion, playground that includes a mommy and me swing.

Compton Ridge

This is the backside of Crystal Lake. It is a great place for the traditional picnic on a blanket on the ground, fishing, and exploring.

This is a small lake that is owned and ran by the Arkansas Game and Fish, the city maintains the park area where the picnic tables are located. Other features include a floating pier for fishing, a small boat dock-this lake is for small crafts with small motors. Kayaking and canoeing are allowed.

Depot Museum

This is the old KCS (Now CPKC) Depot that was built in 1910. It was originally built in 1894 but burnt down in 1908. The museum was restored in the early 1990's by Loyd Peterson who owned Peterson Industries. The opening season for the museum is the first Saturday of May thru the last Saturday in September-Saturdays only.
